NUTRITION SUPPORT COURSE: A training course for clinicians in practical nutritional support

STARS * * * * * For me, (I had no post basic training in Clinical Nutrition), this course created a framework for my clinical practice and aided in my professional development planning, clearly identifying what I didn't know and what I needed to know!! - Kate Pickering.

Although primarily aimed at clinicians the course is entirely suitable for nurses or members of other disciplines with some previous experience in nutrition support i.e. individuals such as NNNG members - Dr. Stroud.

~~NEW REVIEW~~ Topics covered: Gastroenterology, Surgery and Intensive Care. An intensive course run from Sat-Wed, includes lots of group work around case studies, strong evidence base but teaches practical management skills required to care for patients requiring nutritional support. Opinion: As the only nurse (one pharmacist and three dietitians) I found this course initially daunting but this settled and as a "long time" nutrition nurse specialist found it the most useful course that I have attended for some time.  It supported and advanced my care of patients.  I felt able to contribute as a nurse but came away with loads of re-found and new knowledge. Word of caution: Feel this course by its intensity and aim for medics would be more suitable to those nurse specialist that have been in post for a while and is perhaps not as suitable as those new in post. - Gill McHattie, Nutrition Nurse Specialist, Glasgow
